Chapter 06 · Integrations
Import CSV
Import historical transactions into Prune from a spreadsheet. Use this when your transactions aren’t in a supported accounting platform or bank connection, or when you want to bring in a one-time batch of past data.
When to use this: Choose CSV import if you don’t connect QuickBooks Online, Xero, or a bank through Plaid, or if you need to load history that predates those connections. For ongoing automatic syncing, a direct integration is the better option.
Before you start
Prepare your file as a .csv with one transaction per row and a header row. At minimum, each transaction needs:
- Name — the transaction name
- Date — the transaction date.
- Amount — the transaction amount.
Memo and category are optional.
Import your transactions
- Go to the Accounts page.
- Click Import Transactions to open the import flow.
- Upload your .csv file.
- Map your columns. Match each column in your file to the matching Prune field (Name, Date, Amount).
- Review the preview to confirm the data looks correct.
- Click Confirm Import to finish.
Once imported, your transactions appear on the Financial Report, categorized by the accounts you mapped.
